Beat Update  From Pc 1711 Barratt

We are now well in to the New Year and I hope that you have not been too inconvenienced by the snow and ice. Your Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) has continued working throughout and I'm sure many of you have seen us on patrol! I've tried not to slip over too many times! We continue to attend to the locally raised issues, which are Cycling on the pavement, Enviro crime (litter issues/wheelie bins) and disorderly behaviour around the Willoughby Street/Park Road area. On the 27th and 28th of January there will be an Operation by the CPOs to tackle cycling on the pavement, which remains an issue which people feel strongly about.Operation Country continues to run in Lenton, which is an annual operation on the Canning Circus policing area set up to tackle burglaries, which is a Nottinghamshire Police priority. This involves a combination of high visibility and covert patrols by officers in addition to your Neighbourhood Policing Team.Burglary in the area over the past year has remained at a similar level to the previous year although since the beginning of 2010 there have only been 2 instances of dwellings broken in to! We would however advise residents to remain vigilant, secure your properties and always leave a light on when going out in the evening.Other priority crimes in the Lenton area have seen significant decreases in the past 12 months, which can only be seen as good news!Vehicle crime is down over 20%, street robbery down 16%, violence against the person down nearly 25% and criminal damage down a very significant 33%!Lenton continues to be a relatively safe place to live and work and your NPT wishes you a happy and successful 2010.Should you wish to speak to me personally I can be contacted on 07792 437363, by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
